THE ABILITY TO SACRIFICE
65
CHANGING MY FORM INTO A KINGDOM TO COME
I would be true
That I would remember
I would be brave
Always to your name
Patriotism
Courage
Loyalty
Ethics
Honesty
Forever grateful
That I am;
Have I won a small victory for humanity?
No I don’t see.
If my heart is broken
My eyes see the truth
Then Let me remember…..
And remember I must.
My sister and I were taking our first bike rides of the season. After years of biking, I still feel like a beginner on my first outing each spring.
Approaching an intersection, I heard a car behind me. It was coming fast and I heard brakes squealing, the next thing I knew I woke up in a hospital. There was a lot of pain that day and the days to come. Everyone was saying it was a miracle I was alive and they didn’t know if I would walk again.
After three surgeries and lots of tears and trying to be brave, and three months in the hospital, with lots of rehab, I started walking a little bit at a time.
That’s when I started looking back on past mistakes what I could have done to make things right? It’s so easy to look back on past mistakes, such as those I made while raising my children, my marriage that turned into a divorce and returned me to my Lord.
When an older relative criticized my maternal efforts and skills and being a single mom, anger hitchhiked along with guilt. For years these destructive emotions kept me from a closer walk with God and finding the love of my life.
I kept remembering the whole time in the hospital this simple verse.
“I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14.
What a lesson Paul teaches me! He refused to swell on past ugly mistakes or unfair criticism. He put things behind him and kept his eye on what laid ahead.
Remember
Living close to holy things, working in church, even speaking holy things does not necessary mean one is living a holy life. Excellence in faith, knowledge, endurance, patience or endless love requires the habit of discipline. Habit means exercise…..a maturing process. Just as a beginning apple is perfect, you can be perfect for your stage of development an ongoing maturity is very simple: Think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report. I think there be any virtue or anything to praise, think on these.
Philippians 4:4 rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again. Rejoice!

That's exactly the meaning of it all there is work to be done and only you and your belief would know . Give thanks. It 's a great thing to know that you are here still doing wonderful things , give God the praise.
Great work as you write from true feelings.
Bless.
These are not words but your heart beats, I hear..
And I believe that the opposite is also true--just because one doesn't believe in Christ doesn't mean that the person does not live a holy life--
Think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report. I think there be any virtue or anything to praise, think on these.
I also think that what rambansal said in his comment is true--these are your heartbeats--
You have given me food for thought!
Such a beautiful simple story & poem. We must do what we can daily for our Lord but through His strength, not our own and give Him the praise for each victory.
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." (Philippians 4:8
One can sense the struggles you have been through in your poetry. I love the list you gave, and your thankfulness for the good and bad are clear. We all need things to anchor us during hard times. It sounds like you have something solid for sure! I have leaned on such scriptures during hard times in my own life. God is good, and you are a trooper to keep fighting for the good, and to see beyond the moment even in hard times.
Good job Debbie. True words from God's word. I voted UP across except for funny.
Voted up and beautiful! God knew you'd be talented and He already knew you were among the most beautiful things He created so of course He guided you through the pain and suffering and you lived. As long as you keep the faith and never waver in believing the Lord will always be by your side. Now you and I know that talented, smart, intelligent and beautiful people in and out never die. God bless.
you are so right Deborah....march on, for the past is behind us and we have the best guide in the world by our side. vote up!
I love how you so skillfully weave your poetry into your narratives about life, God, faith and so forth. How wonderful that your faith enabled you to keep pressing on:) Voted up.
What a terrible experience for you to have gone through. I can only think that God had better plans for you than to let you die prematurely. Beautiful Hub. Thanks.
Dear Mr.s Debbie : How blessed you are that you survived that terrible injury, and how wonderful it is that you are such an artist with thoughts, and words. God Bless You Dear Heart.

Debbie, this hub is rich with wisdom. Paul is forever teaching us great lessons through his biblical teachings. Also, a great video. That song is stuck in my head. Thank you so much for posting this.
Very interesting read here Deborah, true strength is found in the darnedest of places isn't it, and when people go through struggles of adversity or pain is when god tends to show up even more in our lives. I sense your passion for the gospel, and I commend you on your love of God, discipline, and the wisdom that comes with it.
Its also nice to see that you've published your very own books, this is also a highly commendable achievement for sure, awesome job here and thanks for sharing such a wonderful story of triumph & faith with us all.
Great Ideas. God Bless.
Vince

It still sounded so real.I had to read it again.I find myself pulled to the same stories that move me.I think of how you captured your reader and slowly released us to be free. How we begged for more and enjoyed the struggle.I had to read your story more than once so I can learn more style and flow.I have to be honest I don't want to go.
