MUFFIN MY SOUTHERN BELLE
First I want to thank other Hubbers, Mr. Lord de Cross for one. When I read his hub on his dog Hanna, I fell in love with Hanna. I had to write about my cat Muffin.
Thank you Mr. Lord.
And before him there was Eddy (Eiddwen) she wrote about her new dog Rocky that she rescued from abuse, which really touched my heart.
Everyone talks about their pets, as it should be, because they are our precious babies.
So now I am going to talk about my MUFFIN.
Muffin is so mean.
I have had her for fourteen years. She is my baby. She is solid black. Not any white on her. With her green eyes she can look right through you.
All my life I have had black cats. They are my favorite cats. I have been told that if I lived back in the 1700’s and maybe the 1800’s too who knows? I would have been labeled as a witch. Well, don’t worry I am not a witch. LOL.
But back to how mean Muffin is.
For fourteen years I have tried to have other animal’s, cats and or dogs but she chases all other animals away.
I asked her “Muffin,” I say to her in cat language, I say “Why are you so mean?”
Well she answers me with a hateful look and with a loud meow and she is gone.
Well the way I understand it she figures she has lived here for fourteen years and this is her house, although she doesn’t pay the mortgage, but no other animals are allowed.
No Kidding…
She will only eat one kind of cat food Fri skies chicken in the can. Plus she likes tuna (HUMAN TUNA AND CHICKEN ALL HUMAN).. LOl.. I try and tell her “Look” I say to her, but she never listens to me, ’muffin you are not supposed to eat like this, the vet said you have to eat dry food.”
Well that didn’t go over very good. She stuck up nose in the air and went on a hunger strike.
I mean, days went by and I got so scared so I gave in and gave her wet food. Then I told her ‘if you die from wet food it is not my fault.’ You would have thought she would have cared but at last she did not. She just stuck her nose in the air again.
Have you ever try kissing a cat? Well Muffin doesn’t like it. LOL She sleeps on top of me and by my side but she won’t let anyone pick her up. So to be mean to her I love to grab her and not let her down just to aggravate her. LOL
She yells at us when we are making bacon which she loves, but now she is mad that we have sworn off pork so we do not fry bacon anymore. Life has been unbearable with her at breakfast, LOL.
Living in the south she is definitely a SOUTHERN BELL. With her nose struck in the air she lives her life in luxury. If and when she dies I will probably have to be buried with her.
Well Muff is calling me I have to go… I really do love her. She is part of the house and my family.
I want to say one thing.. Maybe if I was to come back in this life is over maybe I could be a black cat? LOL..
Now don't get me wrong I don't believe in that.. Just being funny.

This is such a beautiful tribute to Muffin, showing how she lived her life fully and her way until the very end. You were "hers"...she selected YOU of all the humanoids in the world to descend her Southern gracious snottiness on... how wonderful was that!
I had my own Muffin and her name was Ninny (from Hades). I sobbed like there was no tomorrow when her mean little hiney left me... I know you are hurting, girlfriend. But you gave this furball a lotta love and she did the same for you. I wish you peace and the happiest of memories.

I love a cat with an attitude. Muffin was a pretty kitty. I'm so sorry she's gone.
I had a grey-white cat just as mean and independent as Muffin. But he loved and trusted me and I loved him so much! He was the first cat ever to steal my heart... Before him I hated cats because my sister's cat ate my pet-mouse when I was 11 years old.
I'm so sorry Muffin is no longer with you, Deborah. What a terrible pain - to depart from one's dearest pet.

I am certainly a cat woman. I do everything for my Amy that I can do. We had a cat when I was growing up that we had from a kitten and she wouldn't let us pick her up unless she was sick. And she hated other animals and would get ill if we tried to introduce them. Her name was Katie (Kate) and she was a calico shorthair.
Muffin looks like she would get her way with me too.

Well, I just had to say a word about Muffin. You go girl!
Cats rule...we allow them this, for some very strange reasons I'm sure...maybe it's the fact they are indeed still "wild" at heart. We love to connect with nature, the wild and untamed...and have it all in one bundle of feline fur.
Muffin almost made me love cats.. I think I like muffin..Voted up all the way!

Aww Debbie! I had to smile when you first mentioned how mean Muffin is! I think cats can be so funny that way, so many personalities! We had a brother and sister cat we rescued once, and named them Ricky and Lucy. One white, one black and white. Ricky became my little sweetheart, almost lost a leg once after it broke. Was with me the whole time when I was so sick with my first pregnancy. SWEET cat..but Lucy was mean, lol. She was her own little queen of the place, and the two being so different but from the same litter shows what personalities cats have!

Oh, I really loved this Hub about your cat Muffin. Her desposition reminds me a little of Baby my dog. I hope Muffin lives forever! I can't have cats because of allergies, but I sure like to because they are such interesting characters (like Muffin). I voted this UP,etc.

Muffin is indeed beautiful. Granny had the meanest cat I ever met, Misfit. She lived on top of the fridge and swatted at anyone daring to open it. She lived for almost 20 years and it almost killed Granny to lose her. May you enjoy Muffin for many years to come and I hope she remains mean and a southern belle of the highest order. She sounds like my kind of cat, totally sure of herself and willing to amend her ways for no one. Love it!

Oh Debbie this is precious but also funny. I think it's time you had a WHITE cat. Also, am I to understand Muffin likes "HUMAN IN A CAN?" Wow where do you get that? I mean I've read how Cats do like Human flesh and will consume their masters when dead within 72 hours but in a can? LOL Oh, you know I jest but it just caught me funny the way you worded that. Muffin sounds like a great cat. I have a cat as well, and she rules the house. No one can come over unless she approves. And definitely no other pets are allowed. Cats are so great. If only they could live forever . . .

Great story! I love it! Knowing Muffin,all of it's true. When I went over to feed her one day when you were out of town she sounded like she said hello. She sounded like you! But she looked at me like 'what did you do with my Deborah who spoils me? Feed me now and then get out of my house' Ha ha! She is a funny cat but sweet in her own mean way.

Muffin sounds like she is a very interesting and determined character! I've had several cats over the years, and I've loved them all, but the one that I was closest to was a black cat that looked quite similar to Muffin. He thought very highly of himself, just like Muffin seems to do! Thanks for sharing your description of your pet.
